Nothing besides the location

I had the absolute worst experience ever! I would never, not in a 100 hundred years recommend this place to anyone. I was arriving quite late, but didn’t think this was an issue as my reservation mentioned you could check-in 24/7. I got to the front door, but it was locked. There was a note that I should have received an email with an entrance code, so I went on their guest Wifi, but unfortunately no email. (The email only came through the day after... yay!) What I did find was another email of the reception to let me know that they charged my credit card. What for?! I wasn’t even there yet!Sure I could’ve guessed it was tourist tax, but still. There was no description, no nothing. There I was. Couldn’t enter and it was midnight. Luckily (?) another hostel guest let me in. Great... but I still had no clue in which room I was. I asked some people, nobody could help me out. “The reception closes at 10:30pm.” I started calling the phone number on the reservation. I called it 4 times, no one answer. Why have a phone number if you’re not planning on answering. Then I found another phone number via Google, same story. Then I left some messages via Facebook. Nothing. Not even the day after. No reply, no phone call back. Nothing! Is this even normal?! Basically if anything ever happens at this place, staff is unreachable and/or refuses to deal with it! Plus, everyone can freely walk in and out, because people let you in anyways?! It then took me another 30min to find someone that actually knew the late check-in keys are kept in the luggage storage. He went in and got my key. Note: this was another hostel guest! All good. I figured: I’m ok, I got inside, I’m in bed, let’s forget about this ordeal. The day after I’m outside all day. I come back at 10:30pm. My key card didn’t work. I couldn’t enter. Again. Same thing all over. Another guest let me in. Tried calling. I gave up after 1 try. Tried my key at my room, nothing. I had to knock until someone let me in. I was actually planning to have a drink, go out. I couldn’t because I couldn’t get back in. This hostel actually ruined my entire Saturday night. What a joke. On top of that, the lady that let me in, told me she had to let another guest in a few days before, because her key card also didn’t work. I’m all for making the world more digital, but please make sure your stuff works and there’s a back-up plan. I don’t think I’ve ever been as pissed as this. Also walls are as thin as paper. And don’t think people care about being quiet after 10pm. Seriously, customer service is unknown and the place is not safe. Do yourself a favor, maybe spend a few bucks more, but go somewhere else. Never coming back here. Update: tried filling a formal complaint through the booking site. Management was again unreachable. - Sorry, these guys are crooks. PLEASE, I beg you, go somewhere else.
