hotel brasserie au violon

Great location, just off Barfussplatz, easy to reach by tram. There is an elevator from street level right on the square up to reception.But, be aware that there are still several steps up to reach the elevator. Our room had a modern bath with lots of hot water. Bright room ( We booked the superior room.) Overlooking the rooftops to the Muenster. Breakfast was OK with modest choice, would cook eggs if requested. The room had a ceiling fan which would be great on those hot days. Most older hotels do not have air conditioning.

We were disappointed to find that the lovely terrace we had read about was actually part of the restaurant and therefore you felt compelled to order drinks to sit there or dinner at night. The photos made the room look larger than the reality. There was no coffee maker or fridge ( they were not listed in the description so it was our oversight). People have stated that it was charming. I thought it was nice, but the room was impersonal, so would not describe it as charming. Value for money considered, we would stay elsewhere next time.

The rooms we got were not like the pictures on the website - small and cramped. The breakfast was passable. Coffee wasn't all that great - lukewarm.

Called ahead because we were going to arrive late and arrangements were made for us to gain access to the hotel and to our rooms without someone there to help us. No parking for car.
